Suzanne Stone

Committee member:  Rules, Show Standards

My experience with competitive riding includes being the mother of a child who has been a member of NorCal HJA for two years. After watching my daughter's passion and excitement grow, along with her focus and determination, I am now fully supportive, wholeheartedly encouraging her equestrian goals. She has inspired me to engage more with NorCal HJA and to actively learn from watching hunter, jumper and equitation classes at NorCal horse shows. I am now seeking out ways in which I can support the NorCal HJA membership community to encourage and advance a dedication to equestrian educational activities.
Outside of the industry, I have worked to facilitate ethical research for over 20 years, and am highly familiar with federal, state and institutional regulations, policies and procedures regarding research ethics and compliance.

What would you like to contribute as a NorCal board member?
As a new NorCal board member, I hope to learn from others with more experience, to promote and facilitate educational activities, and increase membership numbers and revenues. I intend to increase communication with members, specifically with new members who are learning and may need additional support, education and information. My dedication to research ethics and compliance translates well into the details of the Rules & Guidelines, and I look forward to working with and assisting board members to refine documents, as needed.
How do you think NorCal can best fulfill the needs of its membership?
For NorCal HJA to continue to fulfill the needs of its membership community I recommend updating communications between NorCal HJA and its members, including refining membership reminders. Clarifying the requirements for horses and riders could significantly increase revenues and promote communication. I also recommend updating the point standings available on the website in a timely manner, so members can participate in additional shows to increase points, as applicable. For example, by September there are a limited number of shows left, (Sacramento and Paso Robles), which may incur greater travel costs for some. The sooner NorCal HJA members know their point standings, the more time they will have to participate in additional shows. I am certain there are many more ways that NorCal HJA can fulfill the needs of its membership, and I look forward to making the time and dedicating my energy to address those needs

Thank you sponsors!
