I have been riding ponies and horses since I was 4 years old. I barrel raced and showed on the AQHA circuit doing the all around events until 2015. At that point I took a step back from riding to focus on my career. In 2019 I bought another quarter horse and began learning to jump. As most AQHA shows on the west coast do not have any hunter or over fences classes, I started attending some of the hunter jumper shows and fell in love with the community. I still attend both AQHA and hunter jumper shows and greatly enjoy both worlds.
Outside of the horse industry I am a Sales Director for Nationwide Private Client insurance. I manage our team of sales associates across the country. I am licensed in Property & Casualty, and have a background in Life & Health Insurance as well.
What would you like to contribute as a NorCal board member?
I'm very organized, enthusiastic about the equine community, and passionate about the welfare of these animals. While I have not been on the board of an organization like this in the past, I have worked with large groups of people who I don't directly manage, helping them to organize, delegate responsibilities and find a direction. A skill that has served me well is helping these groups articulate their wants and needs with an executive presence. I am a strong sales person, and public speaking is a big part of that. More than anything, I'd love to learn from this group and would be happy to fit in wherever I could be helpful.
How do you think NorCal can best fulfill the needs of its membership?
This mission statement on the Nor Cal Hunter Jumper website reads, "The purpose of NorCal Hunter Jumper Association is to promote the hunter, jumper & equitation divisions at Central and Northern California horse shows." To fulfill those needs, the first step is listening to the membership. It would also be wonderful to see a central location for the many resources that this organization offers. Making sure the membership understands and takes advantage of all the benefits is extremely important as well.
